Undo the drain bolt (10mm socket) and drain out the old oil. remove the forks. Once the oil is drained out, you can remove the forks from the bike. Using a 6mm hex wrench, loosen the pinch bolts on the lower fork brace. Remember your friend Mr. Gravity and hold onto the fork as you loosen the pinch bolts.

9,488. Look in the airbox, deep down behind the airfilter. Oil collects there under normal circumstances and will do so rapidly if the bike is overfilled. Should not cause any long term problems. I normally find a bit of oil in the airbox of Annie's 07 F650GS during every oil change.

Crank it for a couple of seconds /or till you feel the engine starts coughing up. Wait 5 or 10 seconds with the motor running before touching the gas, otherwise it may stall and then you get into the flooding mess and drained batteries you mention. Push the choke back in after a minute or so, you won't need it anymore.
Well, its basically the following 8 steps. Drain Oil, Remove the Tank, Drain Coolant, Remove the LHS Engine Cover, Replace Shaft & Seals, Replace the LHS Engine Cover, Replace Fluids, Replace Tank, generally in that order. 2012 G650GS oil change. Has anyone got any good info on changing the oil on a new G650GS. I have been told that the old oil must be pumped out. I would like some good advice on the oil change method, before I just tear into it. The owners manual refers me to a dealer for a oil change. whats up???
